The Black Heritage Society, Inc. BHS is a self-help, non-profit organization chartered by the state of Texas and is accorded tax-exempt status under the provisions of section 501.c.3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
In the summer of 1975, one man’s concern for the well-being and betterment of the entire Human Race led to the establishment of Black Heritage Society fifteen years later. The Black Heritage Society has enabled Blacks as a Society and people as a whole, to generate pride and commitment in Black Youth so that they may become productive and responsive Americans.
The Black Heritage Society has genuine concerns and commitment for the cultural, educational, social and economical advancement of Black America.
Today:
Long before January 15th was declared a National Holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the BHS has annually celebrated Dr. King’s birthday along with a yearly candlelight Vigil Service, held on April 4th and has continued grow. The BHS is now in one of it’s most aggressive membership drives since having been founded, which is needed to realize full potential and reach it’s present long term goals.
